Note: If your system ends up in a terminal with no user interface when it boots, you can try Jolicloud Restore Utility to restore your system. Just type "sudo jolicloud-restore-utility" (without the quotes).

To access your files on a Joli OS install that doesn't boot anymore, it depends on which method you used to install it:

• With the Joli OS windows Installer
• With a Jolicloud USB key

Note: Once you have access to your files, it's time to back up.

Joli OS Windows Installer

1. Boot a live session with a Jolicloud USB key (more details)
2. Open the filesystem (you can do it from the launcher or just press the contextual/menu key and go to' Places')
3. Click on your Windows partition to mount it
4. Open a terminal with Alt + F1 (more details)
5. Type: sudo mkdir /media/je
6. Type: sudo mount -o loop /media/*/jolicloud/disks/root.disk /media/je

A new 'je' disk should be listed in the filesystem. Your personal files should be in /home/.

Note: If the latest command doesn't work, try again after entering this one "sudo fsck -fd /media/*/jolicloud/disks/root.disk" (without the quotes).

Jolicloud USB key

1. Boot a live session with a Jolicloud USB key (more details)
2. Open the filesystem (you can do it from the launcher or just press the contextual/menu key and go to' Places')
3. Click on your Jolicloud partition to mount it

Your personal files should be in /home/.
