YouTube videos play with a red color

We detected an issue with Flash 10.2 that might affect users who upgrade from Joli OS 1.1 to 1.2: most (but not all) YouTube videos play with a red color.

The problem is not related to Joli OS but to a bad interaction between Flash 10.2 and YouTube.

A reliable workaround is to disable the Flash hardware acceleration. You cannot do it directly from YouTube, you should do it from another web app using Flash like Canabalt or Space Invaders:

1. Launch the web app
2. Right click on the Flash component
3. Click Settings...
4. Disable the hardware acceleration
5. Close the settings
6. If you were watching a Flash video on YouTube, you need to refresh the page

Websites say Flash needs to be updated

If you rebooted too early during the upgrade from Joli OS 1.1 to 1.2, it's possible Flash didn't have the time to be updated that's why you still have Flash 10.1 after the upgrade while Chromium 10 (and later version) recommands Flash 10.2.

Jolicloud Restore Utility can easily fix this issue:

1. Make sure to be connected to the Internet
2. Start Jolicloud Restore Utility with Ctrl + Shift + F10 and click OK
3. When all operations complete, the Jolicloud desktop and the top panel are reloaded
4. Click OK to close Jolicloud Restore Utility
5. Disable the Flash hardware acceleration if YouTube videos play with a red color (see above instructions)

Note: Joli OS 1.2 users who did a fresh install shouldn't have any issue.
